E3 2008 Preview

If your one of the five million gamers who joined in on the brutal fun that was Gears of War in 2006, then Gears of War 2 is aimed at you.

Not opting to take a conservative route, Gears of War 2 is going to be an even more in your face shooter than it was before. Allowing players to fight the Brumak and even ride it, fans of the series will want to queue outside their local game store this November to buy a copy as soon as possible.

If the Brumak isn’t enough, Gears of War 2 will also allow players to ride on top of the reaver, the large aerial creature from the Locust side of the war that is able to transport soldiers and serve as a gunboat of sorts.

With the crazy idea for living vehicles, Gears of War 2 will also incorporate a flamethrower into the campaign and multiplayer. Within multiplayer, players who are downed can now crawl to their teammates for help. Perhaps the most talked about addition to Gears of War 2 is the new game mode titled Horde which will allow players to play with up to four of their friends (5 players in total) in a co-op mode that pits players against waves of Locusts advancing on their position.

Lastly, the other addition to Gears of War 2 that has the community buzzing is the inclusion of shields. Either using it to defend on the run to block crossfire or sticking it in the ground for stationary cover, the shield will be a vital asset for gamers come this holiday.

Players should be ready to join along side Marcus Fenix and his crew for mankind’s last stand against the Locust on November 7, exclusively on the Xbox 360.
