Mixing together the real-time strategy and the first-person genre, Atomic Motion was inspired by cheesy military films in the 1980’s when developing Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger. Even last year’s Tropic Thunder, a direct spoof of the classics from ‘80’s, has influenced the development team.

Having a premise that is in the not so distant future, a group of mercenaries are shot down over the Amazon jungle when they are on a trip to pick up a special package. Heading from this starting point, the team must outlive and even outrun the guerillas and various other enemies that inhabit the jungles.

Implementing a unique control system that allows for players to switch between the RTS and FPS view-points instantaneously, Raven Squad is attempting to put forth a one-of-a-kind experience. When jumping into the FPS mode, players will be able to switch between any of the six characters that are in your two separate squads working together to complete missions. When in two-player cooperative mode, players will each control one squad along with the three characters within those squads.

Anything you see or do in the RTS mode, you can accomplish in the FPS mode such as throwing a grenade, crouching behind an object and taking cover behind walls. Tactical gamers will enjoy the ability to switch back and forth between both viewpoints since each has their positives and negatives such as the RTS mode giving you a glance of the battlefield.

Having 12 different levels including a variation of escort and demolition missions, Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger is scheduled for a fall 2009 release on the Xbox 360 and PC.
